Biographies

MARK BASSEY - Trombone
A former member of the innovative Loose Tubes, Brotherhood of Breath and The Jazz Warriors,  Mark is one of our most in-demand and creative trombonists. His wonderful tone and dynamic phrasing has been heard with Julian Arguelles, Don Rendell, Tim Whitehead, Alan Barnes, Chris Biscoe, Ingrid Laubrock, Laura Zakian and John Dankworth and Cleo Laine.

PENROSE FEAST  -  Saxes
Penrose is an outrageously impudent player who blasts his way through some unsuspecting numbers in his unending quest to re-define Adolph Sax’s most noble creation. Noted for his diverse interpretations of the whole history of Jazz as a player, Penrose also composes commercial music for television and advertising and spends a lot of time in Germany where he tours extensively with the improvising jazz collective HEELIUM.

JOSS PEACH - Piano
After graduating from Leeds College of Music, Joss moved to Spain, where his lyrical and inventive approach to composition and playing soon came to the attention of the Spanish musical press, culminating in his winning the coveted Secaderio prize for jazz piano. Joss is fast gaining deserved recognition, having played alongside the ‘young lions’ Seb Rochford and Pete Wareham as well as the ‘elder statesmen’, Bobby Wellins and Spike Wells. Joss is also a member of Alyson Green’s quartet.

PAUL WHITTEN  -  Double Bass
Since touring Europe with Chet Baker, Paul's masterful bass-lines have been the rhythmical backbone for many of our finest players, including Don Weller, Chris Biscoe, Joe Robinson, Gary Kavanagh, Spike Wells and John Donaldson.

RALPH ERLE - Drums
Ralph has performed with, among others, Damon Brown, Johnny Lippiett, Ian Price, Daniel Lantz, Gary Kavanagh, Nigel Thomas, Tom Phelan, Kaz Simmons, Simon Savage, Nigel Price and Romanian sax star Eddie Neumann.
